Okay.
SPEAKER_04Is everybody ready? Uh Chad, I need a glass. Please.
SPEAKER_03I've been so lucky with these lately. I bet the last ten of them. You know, normally like in every nine pack, there's at least one that won't fu that's just harder and fuck to open. I went on a like a two-box run where they were all like cheapers, crime-y. I need like the old grandma like rubber gripper thing for the top. Lately, I've been freaking. It's just been my week, man. It's only Monday. Are you ready? Uh yep.
SPEAKER_01Do it. Hit the button. I'm confused.
SPEAKER_04I was gonna let you say the word so then he could do the aha. Kick tires like the fires. Negative ghost from the bottom. Oh shit, never mind. I I changed the buttons. New intro this week, folks. I changed the buttons around. Welcome to Heat Treated Garage where friends come together, share their love of life, creativity, and everything in between. Episode 49, because we just did 48 with the trail headed guys. You guys hear me alright? Yeah. Okay. My mic sounds weird. So with that. The four around the table. You know them all. And as of today, it's been three years of Hatred Garage podcast.
SPEAKER_01That's hard to believe.
SPEAKER_04It was hard to believe. I couldn't believe that when I saw that today.
SPEAKER_01Poofy. No wonder we can't finish talk about a lot.
SPEAKER_03It was like two years and and two years and like uh 49 weeks ago that we started your house.
SPEAKER_01I know. That's insane. It's just it blows my mind how long we've lived it already. Yeah. Time flies, man. Time flies fast.
SPEAKER_03So it'd be three years Halloween, right? That you've been in the house. I guess it'll be four. No, we've only been doing this for three, because we started this in your house the same time. Yes. Okay. So it will be three years in October that you've been in it. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Because you were not in your house when Wyatt passed.
SPEAKER_01No, we hadn't started building the house.
SPEAKER_04And there'll be four years for Wyatt this 12th, the 12th of October.
SPEAKER_03Um yeah, I was scrolling through one of my some my camera roll the other day. Hey, we must have been on a break. Uh and uh you had those lovely bibs on, and apparently I was just using you for a pillow.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, I remember that. I remember that, yeah.
SPEAKER_03I was just laying back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was I think that was after the pizza day where we ate. Oh, we were freaking oh we we yeah.
SPEAKER_03Oh my god, at the beginning when we thought we could eat pizza and so good, but after that we had to tell Kelly no more pizza on work days. No, it was too much. I mean it's fast and it's easy, but holy shit, you can't stop eating that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that was an early on framing day.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that was pretty nutshot, I think.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean that was like seriously like you had a garage second or third framing weekend.
SPEAKER_04Chad.
SPEAKER_03Well, the wall between the house and the garage was up, so at least your four walls in the house.
SPEAKER_04I just emptied the old granddad 114. Good thing you got a backup. Well, actually, that backup is brought to us by one of our favorite listeners. Favorite one that wears a kilt anyway, and and not just because he, you know, he handed me a bottle of old granddad 114.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I was hauling a car for him, but he he listens to the podcast.
SPEAKER_04He listens in detail to the podcast. So, Thad, thank you for listening.
SPEAKER_03He he even brought us non-peasant beers, non-peasant screw tops, painting, and yeah, so we have not even doing it. And we can we can drink well, it's because I I dozed off and I missed that I was weird. I know, I know, I know, weird because he fell asleep.
SPEAKER_04Not only that, he left you know, he was there to help the guy yesterday and then totally abandoned him today to finish the project. I told him I had I had poor Matt was up there by himself trying to fix his truck. I had grandkid today. I told him today, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Grandkid duties.
SPEAKER_04Anyways, no.
SPEAKER_03It's not like I mean he had to put in four spark plugs and put in four bolts for his throttle body. He did the kids start working on it, yeah. They had the the left bank done and tightened up. I should have told Matt to double check those just to make sure they were tight. I did have a parent one time they call it, oh my god, we we just took the truck to the the shop and and and uh and the spark plugs that you guys just put in it were loose. I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. When you say you guys, you're talking about your son, right? He's like, Well, don't you double check everything before it goes out the door? I'm like, if I double checked every nitpick and motherfucking thing that went on, that's all I do. The kids never leave. Right. And I'm like, I helped him with the first few, and I said, You got it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Apparently he didn't left one loose, blew the spark plug out, or didn't blow it out, but loosened it up and then shot it the rest of the way. So I'm like not on me. Sorry, bud. Yeah, it's at some point, like they gotta know when to ask for help.
SPEAKER_00One hunting, and or have natural consequences for fucking up.
SPEAKER_01Right, that's how you learn. That's a less life lesson.
SPEAKER_00Nobody never forgets again.
SPEAKER_01Exactly. Life lesson.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's that's always one of the things I always try and impress upon the kids. I'm like, hey, I don't want you coming up and asking me for help immediately when you struggle. Like, because the struggle is where you learn. Yeah, you know what I mean? Like that that's just that's what makes the lesson memorable is the struggle.
unknownYep.
SPEAKER_03But I'm like, but I want you to be smart enough to know, like, uh, I think I'm about to turn a 15-minute job into a two-day job. I've struggled long enough. Well, or or like, I think I'm gonna fuck this up if I go any further.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Then you find time, you gotta ask the question. And so, yeah. Most kids are pretty good about it. Some of them ask for help a little too early, but yeah, you'll have that. There's certain things I don't mind, like when they're doing breaks. Like, I want them to get that right the first time, every time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Fall asleep over there?
SPEAKER_04No, I was just waiting to get back to, you know, thanking Thad for buying buying the booze.
SPEAKER_01Buying the booze. Oh, I thought I thanked him already. So we didn't say why we thanked him, or why? Well, that's why he's going with this said booze.
SPEAKER_04Because he remembered that you guys said they have to be screw tops because you're not peasants. He presented them to you as non-peasant beers.
SPEAKER_03Then he walks over to me.
SPEAKER_04Then he walks over to me and goes, I I think this is the right one. Is this the right one? He pulls out a brown bag that the old granddad went from saying, Old granddad 114, hell yeah, that's right.
SPEAKER_03That's exactly what we needed.
SPEAKER_04That's exactly what we needed. So we I mean that that was even in the rain, so it really hadn't started raining too bad then. At that point, it hadn't yet. So that was a multi, a multi uh it just worked out perfect. Multi-quest.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, multi-quest. It was a quest with an added side quest. Yes.
SPEAKER_03So what do they call that on map quest? Like a stop, like we added a stop on our GPS route.
SPEAKER_01We added a stop on our GPS route. So basically we had to get a vehicle that you're gonna work on for a listener. For a listener, and it just happens Thad called me earlier today and said, Hey, would it be cool if I borrowed your trailer like tonight or tomorrow? I'm like, well, where do you need to go? Because I'm gonna have the trailer and Marion tonight. So I mean, it's just like funny thing. So if we could squeeze it in, you know, either I'll come down early and we can move yours and then I'll meet up with the fellas, or then you guys met up and we we were only two hours late. You know, that's not bad for us. That's pretty much on time. Pretty much on time. So yeah, we that's early for me. We moved Thad's car for him from the from where he needed to move to. Got some booze, then we made it to the next location, which it was raining by that time.
SPEAKER_03And that guy was crying watching that Jeep go away. I'm sure I felt bad for the guy. Although I didn't. I mean, you could tell he really liked it. I'm like, come on, guy. He wants to that thing doesn't need premium fuel. No, yeah. But that was what that was like the first thing he said to me. Yeah, was like, hey, I don't know if uh you guys know, but uh it does require premium fuel. That's what the guy before me always put in it.
SPEAKER_04He never said he required it, he just said that's what I always put in it because I wanted to take care of it, is what he said to me. Yeah, something like that. Which, hey, that's your choice.
SPEAKER_03I mean, that's I think it was what I was talking, is it because that's what the guy before me always ran in it.
SPEAKER_04Well, that's some people get that way.
SPEAKER_03It's just not worth the extra what, dollar a gallon.
SPEAKER_04Maybe to him it was. It made him feel good.
SPEAKER_03It didn't help each their own help his frame.
SPEAKER_04It did not help his frame.
SPEAKER_03That might be the cleanest, that might be the cleanest combustion chamber of all time.
SPEAKER_04He he could have said used that dollar per gallon and washed it more.
SPEAKER_01Washed it more, yes.
SPEAKER_04Actually, I don't I won't say wash more because it's in pretty good shape. He should have spent some time washing the frame out. Yeah, but most people don't know to do that.
SPEAKER_03How often do you wash your frame out? I think more than never watching. That's like that's like been a thing over that's just developed over like the last 20 years, though. That's not like anything anybody grew up doing, right? Yeah, it's that's just because you went through the mud hole and you had to. Well, I still grew up doing it.
SPEAKER_01I avoid mud holes like the plague.
SPEAKER_04I do now.
SPEAKER_03Hate mud. I don't even drive through the puddles in my alley. No. Now, if it's raining and there's water, like the gut, like the the sides of the street are full of water halfway out in, I'll drive a little further over into it and make the water splash up more.
SPEAKER_01That's washing your frame.
SPEAKER_03That's washing the whole thing if you hit it fast enough.
SPEAKER_01Faux shout. So that was side quest, one side quest this week.
SPEAKER_04We ended up on a side quest yesterday and realized we were walking into a side quest. True.
SPEAKER_03We were we didn't know what I was getting into either.
SPEAKER_04Actually, we were headed to a side quest and said side quest got side quested.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_04Because Geyer called and said, Hey, I'm gonna need a hand with taking some parts off his project. We'll we'll get deeper into that. We got there and there was a truck hanging out of the school shop.
SPEAKER_01Far as we can make it.
SPEAKER_04Had to use the old rescue toy tundra to push it on in.
SPEAKER_01Rescue Tundra is in the workout lately. The RT. The RT.
SPEAKER_04I just guy was checking fuse then. I'm looking at the scan tool and I'm like, Gyre, why does it say throttle position 30%? It's not even running. Like the keys on. Court, court, move the press it through gas pedal. Zero to 100. Back down to zero.
SPEAKER_02I think we got sure enough.
SPEAKER_03Well, the pedal, it was measuring the pedal, it just measured the pedal, but the throttle was the throttle, the butterfly wasn't.
SPEAKER_04The electronic throttle was not responding to said pedal input.
SPEAKER_03Well, the reason I was checking fuses is because it was acting like it had a misfire, like it was losing, and that like it was running funny, and then dead, nothing. But but then once we figured out that it didn't, it was probably the throttle body, and then we pulled it out and bench tested it, and it failed.
SPEAKER_04And now he has an updated throttle body.
SPEAKER_03But then looking back, pretty much explains all of his symptoms. Yeah, the shitty shift points, going into the V4 mode, which I told him you need to get that shit de fucking activated. Uh, because the kids pulled his plug, the the plug when they pulled the plugs today. There's fucking oil cooked all over them. So he's burning a lot of oil. What do you say? A court a month?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. Dumbest thing GM ever designed. And they designed a Corvair.
SPEAKER_01I always liked the Corve Airs.
SPEAKER_04I like the body style of the Corveyor. The the air-cooled rear engine.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_03Um but anyways. But yeah, like, yeah, it was shitty shifting, it was lugging down, and then it was like you push on the gas pump, and it was like fucking nothing, and then all of a sudden it'd take off like it had 30% throttle position. So no, I looked it up and I told him I'd probably two hours working on that by the time we looking up parts and everything else. And so I didn't get a whole shitload done on mine either. Yeah. At least not as far as I wanted to get. Yeah. Glass guy should be there tomorrow. Oh, good.
SPEAKER_01He's gonna be able to cut that glass out of that one and move it to the other one.
SPEAKER_03Send him some pictures, and he goes, I think I'll be able to get that knife in from the top. Like that'd be real fucking cool if you could.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_03Because if you can't, we're gonna pull the glass out one day, and I am not gonna get in a hurry pulling that freaking headliner out. Cause I mean, fuck, it took three of us freaking what half hours?
SPEAKER_04My arm still itches from trying to take them stupid airbags out.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, half hour, 45 minutes, and just get the headliner out, and we used a goddamn utility knife.
SPEAKER_01And finally I started yanking shit off the ceiling. You can't do that in the other one. No.
SPEAKER_04Oh, we could.
SPEAKER_01Could. But don't want to.
SPEAKER_04Well, you got the headlight. If you end up taking the headliner on, you should do one of those starry night headliners like Caleb did.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah.
SPEAKER_03I remember Caleb's exact words were after he got that done. And I mentioned doing it another one. He goes, fuck you, I am never fucking doing that ever fucking again.
SPEAKER_01I bet he would. He hasn't, he's done a lot of shit to this next truck, and it has not got a starry headliner again.
SPEAKER_04I think Geyer should do it. He's good with electrical.
SPEAKER_01Asher would love it. It doesn't look too hard to do. Just time consuming. It's a good drink beer and poke holes through your headliner and shove a little wire through it. And poke some more holes and shove a little wire through it.
SPEAKER_03Say those magnets, were they stuck to the headliner? Yeah, yes, I don't know. Like, were they at one point glued to the headliner?
SPEAKER_01No. One side was stuck to the metal of the ceiling, and the other one slid into a little slot on the headliner.
SPEAKER_03Oh, so when we ripped that, so you were you're gonna rip all those off then when you try and pull the headliner down?
SPEAKER_01No, I pulled them out of the headliner. Oh, they came off with the headliner. Oh well. Well, there was there was a number of them that were still stuck to the head. That's the other half of it. I th because I think they lined up with I think the ones I took out lined up with the other magnets.
SPEAKER_03Because there was smaller ones and bigger ones. Yeah, I think they were Did the smaller ones stick to the bigger ones?
SPEAKER_01I think so. Okay. The flatter ones that we pulled off the mountain. I think the other ones were stuck to those. That was the weirdest thing.
SPEAKER_03I'd never seen such a thing. They used magnets to hold up the headliner.
SPEAKER_00And they're strong. It seems like there'd be a better way to go about that.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it's I don't know where you'd put any. I mean, there's so much glass in that thing. I mean, they were still holding on. Yeah. I mean it. I'd never seen it. I'd never even heard of anything like that. Taking that headliner and the other car down if you have to is going to require some finesse. Because there's a lot of little pieces to unhook. Got it. That's where I was going. It's good good lessons for students.
SPEAKER_03Well, the one uh the one the one video I watched, they took just enough of the plastic off in the back and then just and then remember when we pulled it, and you thought I went through the headliner? That's basically what they did. They just kind of let it sag down and then they worked up through the through the windows in the headliner.
SPEAKER_01Which would work.
SPEAKER_04Did you find a turbo yet?
SPEAKER_03I spent two hours during homeroom trying to or during testing. Trying to figure out what I want to do. But I gotta take some measurements on those turbos.
SPEAKER_04Just order the bully dog kit and be done.
SPEAKER_02It was like 2k, you said.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Maybe, maybe you got 2k I can borrow?
SPEAKER_04No, but you just I mean, you want to make some horsepower. Why not start from the beginning?
SPEAKER_01All the horse ponies.
SPEAKER_04They're bigger, they're quick spools.
SPEAKER_03But they're 2,000.
SPEAKER_01I don't want to, I don't want to have to help put those in because getting the littler ones out was a pain.
SPEAKER_04That's the whole kit, though. That's like I think they're ductwork, everything. It's a whole kit from Bully Dog. Which I was surprised. I'm like, Bully Dog's making something for a flex? They're like diesel guys.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. I don't know. I gotta figure so at least right now. I gotta measure those housings. Because the one the one impeller on the turbo is completely fucked. Like it's it's fucked. Um, but they said I was reading around, they said it 10 to 20,000 clearance is the spec for around the impeller. So if it didn't, if I'm still within that and can kind of just shine and polish everything up, I think that's what I'll do.
SPEAKER_00But until you buy a new impeller, you'll never know. What's that? Until you buy a new impeller, you won't know.
SPEAKER_03Well, the other one, I could take the other the other one's in good enough shape that I could use that one. It just kind of garfed up just the edge of it a little bit.
SPEAKER_04He could piece one together for now.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, that that one really got chewed up. Hug it. That that intake ate something. Yeah. I mean, it got something sucked in the intake that it was pissed off about. But it made some noise. Yeah, I was like, how the fuck you not notice that? I I wonder if that happened. But it was a woman driving it, and from her pictures on Facebook, it was she's also a lesbian, so she probably just turned the radio up. Canceled. Canceled. Or she was shooting rainbows out her ass, and she's just like, it'll be fine.
SPEAKER_04Okay, what that? Chad, what have you got some updates?
SPEAKER_00So sold the expedition.
SPEAKER_04Well, I don't know. I wait, is it? I don't. I thought I had the pause button, but I don't know which one it is.
SPEAKER_00So uh got six out of that, which I it's out of my hair. I don't I don't care anymore.
SPEAKER_03You're over it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um then today, like after testing, and we were I was in uh first hour, a 92 Astro van popped up.
SPEAKER_01That the gray one you sent?
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Did she get back to you?
SPEAKER_00Uh about five hours after I sent her the first two messages. What'd she say? So how how about I'll just read through the the message string.
SPEAKER_04Oh, I can't wait to hear this. You you want you want the message I got first? Because when you said she wasn't responding to you, I sent her, hey, is this available? I'd really like to come look at this. And two hours later, I got a response.
SPEAKER_00Really?
SPEAKER_04Yeah. It said currently in talks.
SPEAKER_00God damn it. Let me scroll, goddammit. What a psycho hose beast.
SPEAKER_03That's still one of my favorite lines.
SPEAKER_01Did she have a flex at one point?
SPEAKER_00So at 11 30, I asked her if there's any known issues with it, and I said I wouldn't mind coming to look at it if it's not like a monsoon. Nothing. And she hadn't seen it. So like 20 minutes later, say earliest I could be there is about 4:30, cash in hand. Okay, so like I said, that was noon. At 3 42, she messages me. Yes, that works. Send me your phone number and I will text you his address in Waterloo. Send it off right away. Then I like five minutes later said, I'm gonna get started from Manchester. 15 minutes later, there is someone there currently looking at it. I'm not sure it would be still available when you get to Waterloo. I'm like, okay, maybe she should have led with that first, but I said, Am I at least next in line? And will you at least let me know if it gets sold? Yes, definitely. I'm going to keep heading that way. So I get to Evansdale.
SPEAKER_04I was just gonna say, when you get to Evansdale.
SPEAKER_00So I'm like, okay, I'm just gonna park. I'm not gonna go any further. So I'm sitting in Evansdale currently. I figured a decision would have been made before I made it this far. Not yet. I wait another fucking hour.
SPEAKER_01Holy shit.
SPEAKER_00I said, I don't understand what the hangup is. No one looks at a car for two hours. I'm in the area with cash. I'll know within five minutes or less if I'm gonna buy it. And then about 20 minutes later, after I'm already headed home, it's marked sold. So then I sent a message, just because I was in a bitchy mood at that point. I fully expected to waste an hour of my time doing this. I have now wasted over three hours of my time. Thanks. A little communication goes a long way. Another hour. I got home already. Sorry it took so long, but it's been sold.
SPEAKER_03No shit, your aunt said that. But what did you tell me you would if you were feeling a little snarkier?
SPEAKER_00I hope you at least got full price because it was worth double that if it was in good as good a shape as the pictures were.
SPEAKER_01That's what you should have said. So one time Caleb and I went on a mission to buy a vehicle, and we were the guy said there's someone on their way. And Caleb and I said, We're on our way, and we were closer. We were going mock Jesus. Beat the guy there, jumped in the that little ranger he had, test drove it just around the block, came back, handed the guy cash, signed the title while the other guy's waiting to look at it, and he was like just all butthurt. Oh, he was motherfucking yeah, big time. He's like, we won. But yeah, I hate dealing with marketplace for that exact same reason.
SPEAKER_03Uh fucking Facebook marketplace is like right here. The wall is like Walmart in the ghetto where people are getting mugged and shot.
SPEAKER_04Okay, I'm this all explained. It's I can explain it all right now. I just looked up her profile and her picture, not her background one, but her like profile picture is two dogs. I got my COVID-19 vaccine. We can do this.
SPEAKER_01I looked at that earlier too. I was like, seriously, seriously. Yeah, that was like five years ago. But yeah, so that sucks.
SPEAKER_00That was pretty decent looking one. Yeah, so there's no visible rust. I'm not saying I wouldn't have got there and crawled on anything like, nope, sorry, I'm I'm gonna pass on this one. That's rust, yeah. But it had 135,000 miles and it was too grand.
SPEAKER_03And it was within an hour of Manchester. Like, you don't get them that close that are you have a chance at being in that good a shape very often.
SPEAKER_00So the the only other one I've had my eye on is in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Yeah, I saw that one when you shared it.
SPEAKER_03I'm like, oh that's like a Saturday. She's a WWF fan too, by the way. So shit. She ain't got it. She ain't got a fucking brain between.
SPEAKER_01Do you want to plug her business that she plugs on there? No. No, you don't want to? You don't want to go to no. No, no, no. She's got her old little business she's trying to run. That's where she couldn't answer your phone when she was busy building crafts and stuff. But anyway, yeah. She's making little glass pyramids. I don't know what they were. But uh have you looked at Texas at all? Because it'd be fun to fly to Texas and drive. I have to sell the boat.
SPEAKER_00The one that I've had my eye on must have been sold, and he just is no longer answering the ad.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Doesn't know how to market sold.
SPEAKER_00Most everything down in Texas is not a wheel drive. Yeah. Right. Just trying to wait for one that pops up that doesn't have 10 million miles.
SPEAKER_01And so like keep an eye on Colorado. I was at Colorado area.
SPEAKER_00Like some of the places I've pretty much searched the entire United States at this point.
SPEAKER_02Searched everywhere.
SPEAKER_03Have you talked to you? I should call my old Auto Tech instructor. Seriously, that's all I ever knew. I've all I've ever known that guy to drive is all-wheel drive astro vans.
SPEAKER_04Talk to the fellow we know. Uh no. Okay. He hasn't got back to me either, so he did say he still has it.
SPEAKER_00But it just, I was all excited though, because two grand for the van. Called another grand just to get it where I kind of want it to be.
SPEAKER_04It looked like it did have some rust on the bottom.
SPEAKER_00It looked a little weird on the didn't look like it was rusty, just at the most, maybe like primer, but it looked like it was like just crease, like something got into it.
SPEAKER_03Funny body work or something. Right. You're just gonna go drop it on the bottom.
SPEAKER_00But I would have an extra three grand after that for the next project. The other project.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Which would be nice to have the money to do both of them, which would be sweet. Yep. So they keep they keep popping up on mine. So I've I'm watching I'll send them even though you've probably already seen them. Yep.
SPEAKER_04But when they pop up in mine, if they look like they're pretty we're gonna send them, you don't have to reply back about them. Unless it's like, hey, that's a great one, and we're going after it. Hook up the trailer.
SPEAKER_00Yaw.
SPEAKER_01Gee, hook up the trailer and drive it.
SPEAKER_04Unless it's a long haul.
SPEAKER_00If it's that long, I'd probably just fly there and drive back.
SPEAKER_04That that uh wagon we talked about pre-all episodes here. The one that we're gonna need a bigger truck. Wagon? The trailer. The trailer, okay. The double decker. Yep. 5k.
SPEAKER_01So you're you're buying a bigger truck.
SPEAKER_04No, no. I said no. I was I said, no, I'm kidding. But then I get to thinking here as we're sitting here talking, you could fit at least four or five cars on that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04You head to Texas, Oklahoma, pick them up, bring them back.
SPEAKER_01I mean, it'd be awesome to have the cash flow to drive places, find things, buy them, bring them back here. Because when I was in Arizona, I spent like two days just Facebook marketplacing, AstroVane. Anytime I'm traveling, all sorts of random stuff.
SPEAKER_04Anytime I'm traveling, I look at that area.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Or if JB3's traveling, somewhere I look at that area. But hey, we're like a half hour in, and before we forget to talk about it again, there's an event coming up.
SPEAKER_01White Swords Golf out in June 13th. I'm not sure where we are with signups.
SPEAKER_04I don't think there's many signed up yet.
SPEAKER_01So there's still room availability to get your team in. There's always room for sponsors for people that want to donate to the uh silent auction.
SPEAKER_04Silent auction or want to be a whole sponsor. We do have people that are coming just to hang out from all over the country.
SPEAKER_01Yep.
SPEAKER_04Verified that earlier tonight.
SPEAKER_01If you want to. Yeah, we've got whole sponsors, we've got cart sponsors, we've got food sponsors. There's there's lots of different options. Check out Wyatt's Warriors Facebook or uh website. Website.
SPEAKER_04Where you can do all the Facebook page has some stuff too.
SPEAKER_01So there's a link to it. Link to it. All the sign-up stuff's on the online this year. Yes. All prepay. We're not doing pay of the day of too much hassle.
SPEAKER_03We did the same thing with the hero hustle. The first year or two, we allowed people the same day. You don't get enough registrations and shit that day.
SPEAKER_01So well, the problem is like everybody signed up, but then you have to be there early to get everybody paid up, and it just takes a lot of extra time for Andrea, basically, and the people are helping her. So yeah, we're doing it all online this year. Streamlining it, yes, being more efficient. Yes. That's the only thing I've got announcement wise coming up that I got scribbled down here besides. We already talked about three-year anniversary. That's it. For announcements that I can think of.
SPEAKER_04Well, I thought we'd we did the trail hated episode already, but that these those guys got here. I said, you know, it's the anniversary one. We talked about the golf outing. So we should jump on and at least do a little bit. Do a little bit of a Chad's not even gonna leave it virgin.
SPEAKER_03Now tear it open. Nope. Whiskey wasn't meant to be a virgin.
SPEAKER_04Bullshit. There's two bottles over there that are gonna stay virgin for a while.
SPEAKER_03That one right there? Well, not that particular one.
SPEAKER_01So is there any update on the other project? Nope.
SPEAKER_00Nope. Have you reached out? Now that I have money now, I need to get that all figured out. So needs to get into my possession so I can start finding parts.
SPEAKER_04Yes.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah, that was the uh just right. The uh the other option instead of spending two thousand dollars for a whole setup was that if I can make those housings work, um there's like 500 bucks for a full rebuild kit for balanced and upgraded shaft and I don't know, they impellers, they turbines, what the fuck are they? Wheels, I think they just call them wheels. So 500 bucks a piece. No, for the pair for the pair that's for shaft, bearings, plates, rebuild both gaskets, yeah.
SPEAKER_04That's not bad.
SPEAKER_03No, and the thing I was looking at sent you a message. I'm like, you know, if a motherfucker would get in there more often, like it's only 200 bucks to rebuild them. Like, if you'd catch them before the wheels get into the housing, it's like a hundred bucks a turbo to rebuild them. They're cheap to rebuild. As long as you pay attention to it, as long as you know, you just gotta make it part of your maintenance plan where you just like so.
SPEAKER_01How about this? But 99.9% of people never look at them. Can't even do it. You know, they can't even know to look for.
SPEAKER_03Well, and I guess most people would be taking it to a shop. That's what I mean. And I don't know. I I don't know what motherfuckers getting both of those fucking turbos in and out in under seven hours, but it ain't fucking me.
SPEAKER_04Well, they dropped the cradle, they dropped the cradle, the right there loaded out.
SPEAKER_03I don't know that I would have got it out any faster. Because the cradle in front didn't slow it down at all, and in the back, once I got the CV shaft out.
SPEAKER_00Just think how much faster you'll do it next time.
SPEAKER_03Maybe. Yeah, I'm thinking there's something to that, just knowing what to do every the next time.
SPEAKER_04I'm thinking uh next time you change oil and Julie's be like, hey, I was checking your turbos need replaced. We're gonna need 500 bucks to fix your turbos. You put nice up fixed ones, hers, just take hers, put them in yours, and Bob, your uncle, they're both running.
SPEAKER_03I think I'd just rather do mine once than do hers and then mine.
SPEAKER_04I didn't say you're actually doing hers.
SPEAKER_03Oh, I see. She's not watching what the left hand's doing.
SPEAKER_04Gotta be a little magician there.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. Why is that oil change taking something? Oh, I had to get into your turbos and all you have to say is I broke a bolt. I broke. I don't want to talk about it.
SPEAKER_04She's not even gonna ask because she he's not there to bother her, so she's just gonna be happy.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, not fighting her for the TV. So that's that's my other option with that. But right until I figure out what I'm gonna do with the turbos, I don't know. I you said it runs without him, right? I'm not gonna drive it home in the condition it's in. I think by the time I got home, I'd dump all the oil all over the oil pan.
SPEAKER_00So just hammer that oil line shut.
SPEAKER_03Just make a loop. Vice grip it shut. Yeah.
SPEAKER_04Just make a loop. Loop it back.
SPEAKER_03Um so yeah. I mean, I don't know. I don't know what to do. I just know that if it's gonna end up being a fun car, you gotta have fun money. And right now, I'm out of fun money.
SPEAKER_01So Yeah, that's the sh that's kind of the shitty part.
SPEAKER_03That's that that's where I'm at with it right now, is I'm just about out of fun money, and I gotta dip into not fun money to get the glass in it tomorrow because I don't want to leave it sitting outside with that grass clack cracked and possibly leaking water into it.
SPEAKER_01It just sucks that you bought the other one for parts car, and then you find out the parts that's see.
SPEAKER_04That's why I'm gonna auction that's why I could I have a hard time buying those auction cars.
SPEAKER_03But see, the thing is, and and I told you, she goes, so you weren't able to use anything off of that? I'm like, oh no. I said, I I got damn near between all just everything on top of the motor that I needed to get it running, plus you know, one or two other things. I'm like, I got the money back out of it. We're even it's not gonna show up in money in our checking account, but when your alternator goes out, we've got one. When the starter goes out, we've got one, you know, all those little things go out, like it's not gonna be money in our pocket, it's just gonna be things we save in the table. Those airbags sold, and you got a good chunk of your rebuild kits. I was looking on, I don't know where you were looking. Were you looking on eBay or cardash part? eBay because cardash part they're like 50 bucks. No, eBay are that cheap.
SPEAKER_01That's the shitty part.
SPEAKER_03But those side curtain ones, I don't know if you can you fold those fuckers up to ship them, otherwise, that box would be fucking expensive to ship. Carpet tube. I bet it'd still be expensive to ship it.
SPEAKER_02Not that bad.
SPEAKER_03You don't think so? Send it speedy.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I'll find something local. Speedy, or yeah, they'll find it local.
SPEAKER_03I think that's a chat. A chat goes local pickup only.
SPEAKER_04Well, then you're not gonna get as much for them.
SPEAKER_03But I mean, if they're that's the thing, if they're 50 bucks and all the salvage yards, why would you buy them? Right.
SPEAKER_04There's people that don't go looking at salvage yards.
SPEAKER_03I suppose there's a lot, I mean, I've wrote into boatloads of people that work on cars that don't know about car dash parts.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_03Right, yeah.
SPEAKER_04There's too many people, it's just easier to go to eBay. Oh, there it is. Buy it now.
SPEAKER_03I don't know. With the rise of Amazon, I haven't bought as much shit on eBay because Amazon, I'm a mediate gratification guy. I can have that. I can order at fucking five o'clock tonight and it's at my door tomorrow morning.
SPEAKER_00Sometimes it've gotten slower. So I don't know if I've got anything next day. Really?
SPEAKER_03Oh, I have. Oh shit. I've I've ordered stuff at nine o'clock at night and it was at my house before noon.
SPEAKER_04If it's in Cedar Rapids or Dubuque, you're ordering more mainstream yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_03It's like common shit. Like um, oh, I ordered some because I'm fucking old, uh, multivitamin. That shit'll come next day every fucking time. Yeah. See, we're ordering like Wu Tang War whistles, things like that, yes. I didn't check Amazon to see what turbos were.
SPEAKER_04Or Timu.
SPEAKER_01It was just enough of if it was like Timu's pissed me off. I'm I'm boycotting Timu going forward.
SPEAKER_03If it was like a cruise where it literally takes like an hour to change the turbo and there was only one of them, maybe. But I'm seven hours deep into this motherfucker.
SPEAKER_04There's tie downs I ordered, or the tie-downs I got off eat Amazon delivered them.
SPEAKER_01Really? Yeah, that's funny.
SPEAKER_04Amazon's selling on Timu. That's funny.
SPEAKER_00Last week I ordered some, I think they're called roller cups. It's like a cup with a ball in it that things can roll whatever direction on it. I'm supposed to make some uh like bowling things so the kids can like practice releasing. Well, while I was on there, I was like, hey, that's a a non or an anti-static hose that looks like a festool hose for$45. Buy now. That was on Timu. Yeah, so is it Timu or Temu?
SPEAKER_03Because everybody I know says Timu, but all the ads say Temu. It's either one. And it just looks dumb as fuck. I feel dumb as fuck saying Temu.
SPEAKER_01All right here on the old Amazon Turbocharger left and right replacement for 2010 to 2019 Ford Flex Explorer Sport Trek Taurus SHO,$285.
SPEAKER_02I don't know if I can bring myself.
SPEAKER_01It's just such a pain in the you can pay$359 if you want to pay more.
SPEAKER_03And the other part about if a turbo fucking grenades, if that shit gets through the intercooler, I mean, granted, if it gets through the intercooler, the shit's probably pretty small, but that's the part that makes you nervous.
SPEAKER_01No, that's this is the whole actual boy skate, the whole thing. You know what I mean though? It's like Yeah, I I see where you're coming from.
SPEAKER_04Left turbocharger cartridge 6649.
SPEAKER_03Oh.
SPEAKER_00I know.
SPEAKER_03And at least if we if we every time I look at those, I I just hear dirt in the back of my head saying, don't buy that shit off Timu, don't get that shit off fucking Amazon.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, you know where he gets his shit from?
unknownAmazon.
SPEAKER_01Not for his eco boost, he didn't. Not for his eco boost, no, not for his eco boost. I think the the Chinese war whistle he got came from Amazon.
SPEAKER_04All the all the racetruck stuff was Timu and Amazon.
SPEAKER_03Wu-tang war whistles.
SPEAKER_04I saw the boxes. ECPPA Auto Park.
SPEAKER_01There's a lot of options on the old Android.
SPEAKER_03And then I found one, like it seemed like a pretty good site. And then because of the tariffs, they're not shipping to the United States until summer until they figure out what's going on. I think they're out of uh I don't know how many it was like 590 bucks for the cartridges, I think. Or no, that was for the the one kid I was telling you about, but um, I don't know how many Canadian pesos that is, but just drive up there and get them.
SPEAKER_01Should see where they're at. Crossing the border with them might be a pain in the ass, though. I've got a passport now, I can do that. Yeah, but you can't. Sometimes it's a pain in the butt to bring stuff back with because you've got a walk funny if you try to put them in the old prison wallet.
SPEAKER_04You still yeah.
SPEAKER_01Put two turtles in the prison pocket.
SPEAKER_05That'd be funny as fuck.
SPEAKER_03Well um yeah, you had to do that.
SPEAKER_01You had declare that when you walk across, drive across the room.
SPEAKER_03Or you walk up, you drive up, you put them on while you're there, and then you could do that.
SPEAKER_01You could you could fake install them underneath the hood. Like, those are extra turbos.
SPEAKER_04Here's ECC ECC P P autopart. Three hundred and twenty two three hundred and twenty dollars.
SPEAKER_00Parts car maybe get one that got ass packed.
SPEAKER_03We could uh we could go to uh Linden, Ontario, Canada.
SPEAKER_00JC Whitney's still around.
SPEAKER_03What's the QC?
SPEAKER_04I don't think so. What's QC up there? Quebec.
SPEAKER_03Quebec.
SPEAKER_04It's way on the east side.
SPEAKER_03Sounds like the shop is in uh Quebec. That sounds like a good trip for your dad. He used to go to Quebec all the time.
SPEAKER_04I don't think you'll get him to go.
SPEAKER_03Well, that's not very fun, Jimbo. Um, so yeah. So basically I'm just waiting for a decision on turbos. And then, but then here's the like uh, you know, if you get the updated turbo, because they they got some upgraded turbos that got they got a little more snout on the wheel, so you can get a little more velocity out of them. Like, well, then if I do that, then Chris and I might as well make the catless pipes, and then if we do that, it's not even worth it to throw the cats and everything back in. Sell them a lot of the although a lot of the and maybe some of the listeners know, the catless down pipes that I've seen, they're still putting both oxygen sensors.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, because the system wants to see them both, yeah.
SPEAKER_03But when you tune them, you just tell to not to ignore the downstream one, wouldn't you? I don't know how I don't know enough about tuning to tell you, or is that they may be using that as a secondary, like a secondary oxygen reading, maybe? I don't know. I don't know, but like the ones that I've seen, and it it's fucking stupid. A thousand dollars for a freaking three-foot pipe for two of them. That's pretty dumb. I'm like, fuck, we should make we should make down pipes, we'd be fucking rich.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I gotta stop looking at turbo flexes because that's not all that's gonna be on my Facebook now. Right, dumb. It's nice, isn't it? Dumb at turbo flex. It's like not too bad. I got right now, I got trailers, turboflexes, and Astro fans. Would you rather have an explorer or a flex? I've never drove a flex. One, two, I've never drove a turbo explorer, which just driving the mom bomb, like I look down on going 90 all the time, and it's not it's not a turbo. It just you don't feel like you're going fast. I feel like a turbo one I would get in trouble with. I know I'm gonna get in trouble with it. I caught Dr. Kelly on the old interwebs looking at four Broncos. Ooh, baby ones or real ones. No, she doesn't like the baby ones. She wants one of the 35s.
SPEAKER_03One of my students, she's like, I want a Bronco. I'm like, baby Bronco or a real one. And she goes, That blue one out at Rundy's.
SPEAKER_01I'm like, oh, a baby one. So, so Caleb's girlfriend's got one. I rode in it for the first time the other day. It's not a bad riding little car. I mean that's a key word, you just called it a car, right? I mean, yeah, I mean, it's it's not it, it's it feels like you're in a car. William's got it small. Got one of the baby broncos, and it's the retro one. It's cool. I like it. I mean, for her, it's perfect. I just don't like how I wouldn't want one.
SPEAKER_03It it looks like it's got car wheels on it. Yeah, I mean, like small. That that's the size of it.
SPEAKER_04I would have one for a commuter. I wish we would have got that instead of church.
SPEAKER_01What'd she get for mileage with it? No idea. Yeah, that's not a bad-looking little car. Little vehicle.
SPEAKER_03I don't know if I could make, I mean, with enough uh with enough uh ingenuity, could probably make them work. Ched just sent me a pair of raptor turbos. Race turbos.
SPEAKER_00Race turbos. I mean, good for over 600 horse.
SPEAKER_03The uh the wheels the the wheels are like 20% bigger. And it's a lot of things.
SPEAKER_04Well, if we're doing that, let's just get some freaking 60 diesel turbos on it.
SPEAKER_03The problem is is that eventually I'm gonna outrun the transmission, and then I'm gonna be putting transmission. I just want it to be like I want it to have more power, but I want but I want all but I want the stock transmission and PTU to be able to take it as long as they're properly maintained, right?
SPEAKER_01And that's that's what it's everyone's otherwise build power. Otherwise, you start finding all the weak spots.
SPEAKER_03Other otherwise, this thing gets not cheap fun. Right. And I still want it to be cheap fun. Yep. And from everything I've read, you put a you know, you do down pipes and a tune and you're pushing 450 to 500 horse. Yeah. If you do the the run the 93, you know, if you get the tune for the 93 premium, that you can you can run that.
SPEAKER_01I I want something with boost this year. I've got too many projects, but maybe a boost, something boost on icky next winter, you know, just for fun.
SPEAKER_03Just for funsies, yeah. Like you can do like Wu-Tang War whistles or something cheap, just something to slap on a rat rod.
SPEAKER_01You know, nothing crazy.
SPEAKER_00But just something fun about NA.
SPEAKER_03The nice thing about that is that you're not waiting for anything to fucking spool up. It's right fucking now. But when you got a small displacement, you gotta make up for it in other places.
SPEAKER_04I'm just after Gyar's little tidbit of information about that the new Camaro weighs 600 pounds more than the 69 Camaro. Well, I'm putting basically a modern drive train. A base a base model Camaro drivetrain and a 69 Firebird.
SPEAKER_03That wasn't it. And it was the lower it get like it was all the you know, like once you get up to the highest end Camaro, like whatever there, yeah, you know, with the 6'2 fucking whatever. Like that was like Al head, he was showing us that one was like six or six or eight hundred pounds more than a than a dressed out sixty.
SPEAKER_04So Chad might be the only one that the dad sent me a clip the other day. It was Tim Allen and Jay Leno talking about one of Jay Leno's cars. It was a Firebird sprint.
SPEAKER_00A spree or whatever, yeah.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, with the the six with the overhead cam. Yep. Because yours was in a spree, wasn't it? I it's we're talking first gen firebird, though.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00So I don't think the six cylinder was a espree. It was something, it was a sprint, yep.
SPEAKER_04But it was an overhead cam. It was like it could turn some serious horsepower. And Dad goes, the the car I sold Clyde that was the permanent, it was a permanent convertible. He goes, had that motor in it. I'm like, does Clyde still have the motor? Dad goes, I don't think so. Because Clyde put it was a it was a hard top car that a tree fell on it, so guy chopped the top off of it, then dad bought it for like 500 bucks, and just fun summer car. Um the high school kids always borrowed it for homecoming week for the pro homecoming king and queen to ride out in the football field in this old clapped out firebird. Well, then when we were moving to Delhi, dad's like, I can't take it with me. His buddy Clyde bought it. Clyde completely tore it apart, rotisseried it, what bought a roof out of like Arizona or somewhere and put it back together. Actually, put it all back together. It's it's a perfect bright red. We'll go see it sometime. Uh Firebird sitting in his garage next to his Corvette. Um, but it had that. I'm like, I want that motor. I want that motor to put in the 50.
SPEAKER_01That'd be fun with the 50.
SPEAKER_04I'd like to do a turbo straight six in the 50, if I was gonna do anything for what's in it.
SPEAKER_03But that I was just looking through that one you sent me, Chris. Yeah. The thing that makes me like, eh, maybe that's not the company is in the list of things that like easy installation, durable as they come, superior performance, this is the kicker. Transfer high voltage pulses.
SPEAKER_04I read those. That's I I was hoping he'd read it.
SPEAKER_03Made of top quality materials. I'm like, I'm not putting it.
SPEAKER_04There's some things lost in translation there.
SPEAKER_03Transfer high voltage pulses.
SPEAKER_04Oh god.
SPEAKER_01They don't understand.
SPEAKER_04You can they don't. It's and it literally comes down to a translation thing. Andrew does it, deals with that all the time. Is they'll send over, you know, the pack either write-up for the product or whatever, and Andrew's like, oh no, we gotta change this, and this is gonna be. It's just well, how much they care, how much people care to transfer.
SPEAKER_01To translate over, yeah. They only put so much in there.
SPEAKER_03They had someone with like level two English translating when they should add someone with like level five English.
SPEAKER_04Oh, more like level one.
SPEAKER_03English is hard.
SPEAKER_04English. Canceled. Ask Rich, I'm talking about an air crutch. They're at SEMA and they're walking through, and you know, there's all these companies that are copying and are making their own. They'll they'll have booths at SEMA trying to get people to buy, you know, hey, buy a container load of this and sell them. I try I I I did discuss about buying a container load of tires.
SPEAKER_01Journeys?
SPEAKER_04No, they were gonna be. We were gonna uh Dusty had come up with like the name for them and everything, you know. Be like my own personal tires. They were like a combination, the tire looked like a combination of a super swamper, uh bogger, and a tractor tire. They were gnarly. But anyways, one time Rich walked through there and little, you know, kilo Japanese gal, Chinese gal, you know, flags him down and starts talking to him. And the reason they stopped is she she goes, We we have air crutch! We have air crutch! She was trying to say air clutch. So the winch had an air clutch on it, so you could uh engage and disengage the the winch from the driver's seat. Her English was crutch. Air crutch.
SPEAKER_01You can do that with a button.
SPEAKER_04So well, we're an hour in. Anything else to it's been three years.
SPEAKER_01I can't think that's we have three more.
SPEAKER_03Wait, you fuckers. Now we're getting into the terrible threes. Fuck your terrible twos. We're in the threes. We're going to the fours. Oh, yeah. Yeah, we're gonna get worse. Now we're getting more mobile and we're getting an attitude.
SPEAKER_04So or in dog years.
SPEAKER_01We're legal to drink. We're legal to drink.
SPEAKER_04Salute. Salute! New tool.
SPEAKER_02New tool.
SPEAKER_03I bought a new tool this weekend.
SPEAKER_02Me too. I haven't bought a new tool in a while. Bought two for the school and one for myself. I have all icon ratchets now.
SPEAKER_01I stopped to get icon ratchets. Did you buy every one they had in the store? Because Debuke had zero.
SPEAKER_04No, I was at the Cedar Rapids South.
SPEAKER_01There was zero.
SPEAKER_04I was warrantying out my quarter inch drive and my Pittsburgh. And I said, you know what? Screw it. I'm gonna get a 3.8 standard 3-eights, so I have all three now.
SPEAKER_01There were seriously zero ratchets.
SPEAKER_04We added Gyar hasn't seen the new lighting in the shop yet.
SPEAKER_01He has not. That is kind of what you're having.
SPEAKER_04But let's kick this out of here. I'm tired. Yep, it's time for bed I'm down.
SPEAKER_00We have to be responsible adults in the morning.
SPEAKER_04Oh, yeah, you got more testing. Yay! Testing, yay.
SPEAKER_00Doesn't sound fun at all.
SPEAKER_04I have to go. Oh, I don't have I don't think I have to do any fabricating tomorrow. I just have to figure out LS swap stuff tomorrow. Today was all custom fabricating.
SPEAKER_01I have to measure my driveway. Driveway or my row. You should check with Andy, make sure she did ours. Measure my row ad. And then put my flags up. I found out tonight that the 15th is a cutoff date for spraying the row.
SPEAKER_04You most definitely want that spray.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because I had it one year. I really liked it. I've had it two years and I really like it. So need to get that taken care of.
SPEAKER_04Alright. Catch you next week. Later. Peace. Goodbye.
SPEAKER_02I'm your Huckleberry.
